QUESTION: What was your career track prior to joining the SC SBDC?
ANSWER: Prior to joining the SC SBDC, I built a career spanning more than 25 years in technology, government consulting, strategic planning, program and project management, organizational change, and large-scale business transformation initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions. I began my career as a software engineer with Verizon before moving into government consulting, where I supported federal agencies through technology implementations, program and project management, release management, and organizational change initiatives. I later entered the manufacturing sector, advancing into senior leadership roles and leading complex, cross-functional initiatives at both the domestic and global levels. In 2019, I founded Innovate 360, LLC, a Greenville-based management consulting firm focused on helping organizations translate strategy into action, lead complex programs and projects, improve business operations, and successfully navigate change and transformation. I am excited to bring the breadth of my professional experience, along with my firsthand perspective as a business owner, to the SC SBDC and contribute to the success of South Carolina's small business community.
QUESTION: What motivated you to become an SC SBDC consultant?
ANSWER: As a small business owner, I have had the opportunity to support clients across the country, but I was drawn to the chance to make a more direct impact here in South Carolina, the state I proudly call home. Becoming an SC SBDC consultant allows me to combine my professional experience with a genuine desire to serve my community by helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into action, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. What motivates me most is the opportunity to contribute to the success of local businesses, knowing that strong businesses help create stronger communities across our state.
QUESTION: What is the best piece of advice you would offer an aspiring business owner?
ANSWER: Plan for success. Every great business starts with an idea, but ideas alone are not enough. Take the time to think through your vision, understand the value you bring, and determine what you're willing to invest to turn that idea into a sustainable business. Good ideas deserve solid plans.
QUESTION: What area of interest/expertise do you offer your clients?
ANSWER: I help clients bridge the gap between vision and execution. My areas of expertise include strategic planning, business operations, program and project management, organizational change, and business transformation. Whether a client is launching a new venture, growing an existing business, or navigating change, I enjoy helping them develop practical strategies, execute with confidence, and achieve meaningful results.
QUESTION: Why is the SC SBDC an important resource for business owners in South Carolina?
ANSWER: The SC SBDC is an important resource because starting and growing a business can be both exciting and challenging. Business owners do not have to navigate that journey alone. The SC SBDC provides guidance, coaching, and practical resources that help entrepreneurs make informed decisions, overcome obstacles, and move forward with greater confidence. Whether someone is exploring a new business idea or looking to grow an existing company, the SC SBDC serves as a trusted partner every step of the way.
QUESTION: What is your favorite part about working for the SC SBDC?
ANSWER: My favorite part of working with the SC SBDC is helping business owners gain the clarity and confidence they need to move forward and achieve their goals.
QUESTION: What keeps you busy when you're not at work? What is your hobby and/or passion?
ANSWER: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking, and volunteering in my community. These activities help me recharge, stay connected, and continue learning and growing.
