The South Carolina Small Business Development Centers held their annual statewide meeting of consultants and staff on November 7 and 8. The Mad Business Skills Conference, held at the Inn at USC in Columbia, had a Mad Men style 50’s theme. The two-day event covered current banking trends, marketing for small business clients, cloud computing, small business disaster preparedness and a number of other continuing education courses.
Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt spoke to the group about the current state of small business development in the state. He touched on the inland port being built in the Upstate and how it will increase business while taking 2,000 semi-trailer trucks off South Carolina highways every day.
The Mad Business Skills Conference was generously sponsored by TD Bank. Other sponsors included BB&T Bank, Borrego Springs Bank, Bank of Travelers Rest and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
